asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what steps he is taking to accelerate the provision of public library facilities in the Drayton area of Portsmouth.

Portsmouth City Council has applied for loan sanction for a branch library at Drayton, on which work would start in 1970–71. The application is being considered with others and a final decision will be taken shortly.
