§ Mr. Harold WalkerThe Factory Inspectorate has been in close touch with the hazards from the use of enzymes in washing powders since the early stages. On the basis of a medical survey, it has exchanged knowledge and experience with appropriate works medical officers. In addition, manufacturers have established environmental control of the processes involving the use of enzymes.
After discussion with the Factory Inspectorate, the industry has set up a committee to co-ordinate preventive action. The Department is co-ordinating medical studies, and will continue to ensure a rigorous standard of precautions.
