HC Deb 26 March 1970 vol 798 cc525-6W
Sir Knox Cunningham

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what action was taken by the military to ensure the free passage of an ambulance to take an injured man to hospital after a military installation in Divis Street, Belfast, had been attacked during the night of 20th–21st March; why they allowed the injured man to be removed from the ambulance; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Richard

On the night in question, an ambulance was called by the military to take an injured civilian to hospital. After the ambulance had arrived however he decided to travel in a friend's car to a hospital of his own choice. He thereupon left the ambulance voluntarily.
