§ 5. Mr. Lubbockasked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity what notice she was given of the redundancies at Handley Page; and what steps she is taking to ensure that the people made redundant are placed in alternative employment.
§ Mr. DellMy Department was informed on Sunday, 1st March, as soon as the decision was taken to close the factory the next day. D.E.P. officers were at the factory on 2nd March to see workers concerned and explain the arrangements being made to help them. Emergency offices have been opened at St. Albans and Boreham Wood, and every effort is being made to find other work for all concerned as soon as possible.
