§ Mr. Oakesasked the Secretary of State for Social Services when he will issue an explanatory leaflet on the change from the paired organ principle to the assessment of disability under the greater disability rule.
§ Mr. O'MalleyThe amending Regulations which effected this change in the limited field of paired organs came into operation on 17th July, 1968 and extended the greater disablement provisions to cover post-accident conditions for the more seriously industrially injured. In 493W May, 1969, the existing general leaflet on disablement benefit was re-issued with suitable revisions and during 1969 the effect of the extended provision was brought to the notice of existing beneficiaries by means of explanatory notes inserted in disablement benefit order books. Explanatory notes are also included in the notice sent to new and other claimants advising them of an award of disablement benefit.
