HC Deb 26 March 1970 vol 798 c516W
Mr. Malcolm MacMillan

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what steps he is taking to protect the rights of crofters in the Isle of Harris to let tourist caravans on their crofts and common grazings from interference by the proprietor of North Harris estate and his gamekeepers; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Ross

Crofters' rights in regard to the siting of caravans are established by statute. In the case to which my hon. Friend refers, there are no steps open to me to resolve the dispute which is a matter between the parties concerned.
