HC Deb 26 March 1970 vol 798 c458W
17. Mr. Moyle

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity what representations have been made to her seeking the legal enforceability of collective agreements; and what replies she has sent.

Mr. Harold Walker

The Confederation of British Industry proposed that selected procedural agreements might be made enforceable by order of the Secretary of State. My right hon. Friend has also received suggestions from employers in the motor industry that industrial agreements should be enforceable. In each case she made it clear that the proposals were unacceptable to the Government.
