HC Deb 26 March 1970 vol 798 c482W
56. Mr. Rose

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps he intends to take to expand compensation for acts of violence and particularly to assist policemen or their families.

Mr. Elystan Morgan

The Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme provides compensation for victims of crimes of violence, including police officers and their families. Where a police officer is disabled or killed, a pension is payable to him or his dependants, and assistance is also available from the Police Dependants' Trust. My right hon. Friend has already made a number of amendments to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme, including an improvement in relation to widows of police officers and other public servants.
