§ 56. Mr. Roseasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what steps he intends to take to expand compensation for acts of violence and particularly to assist policemen or their families.
§ Mr. Elystan MorganThe Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme provides compensation for victims of crimes of violence, including police officers and their families. Where a police officer is disabled or killed, a pension is payable to him or his dependants, and assistance is also available from the Police Dependants' Trust. My right hon. Friend has already made a number of amendments to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme, including an improvement in relation to widows of police officers and other public servants.
