HC Deb 26 March 1970 vol 798 c506W
65. Mr. Kelley

asked the Minister of Transport if he will review his proposals to deal with the problem of pedestrians using the A18 at Edenthorpe, in the light of information forwarded to him by the hon. Member for Don Valley; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Bob Brown

A signal-controlled vehicle-actuated "Pelican" pedestrian crossing, in a realistic and enforceable 40 m.p.h. speed limit, is likely to offer better protection to pedestrians than the existing uncontrolled crossing and ill-observed 30 m.p.h. limit. We will be introducing both measures as soon as the Pelican equipment is available.
