HC Deb 25 March 1970 vol 798 c408W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the President of the Board of Trade why he refuses to appoint an inpector to inquire into matters connected with the Dollar Land Corporation and Dollar Land Holdings Limited; and what action he now proposes to take with regard to the non-production of company accounts to 31st December, 1968 and the failing of directors to obtain new share qualifications.

Mrs. Gwyneth Dunwoody

We have already informed my hon. Friend that the Board of Trade are not satisfied that there are grounds for the appointment of an inspector to investigate the affairs of Dollar Land Holdings Ltd. The investigatory powers of the Board could not in practice be exercised in respect of either of the two companies named Dollar Land Corporation Ltd. which are registered in North America and have no place of business in Great Britain. My right hon. Friend wrote to my hon. Friend on 23rd March on the matters raised in the second part of the Question.
