HC Deb 25 March 1970 vol 798 c443W
Mr. Marten

asked the Minister for the Civil Service why the percentage of disabled staff in his Department is below 3 per cent.

Mr. Shore

The Government fully accepts the obligation to employ disabled persons under the 1944 Act and is meeting this in the Civil Service as a whole. The distribution within particular departments is inevitably uneven. My noble Friend the Lord Privy Seal has already initiated a review of the situation in his department. The Civil Service Department will always consider a suitable disabled person for a vacant post.
