HC Deb 25 March 1970 vol 798 c415W
53. Mr. Dodds-Parker

asked the Secretary of State for Defence how many aircraft and ships are being used to maintain the Beira patrol; and what is the annual cost of these ships and aircraft, according to the measurement of slice-costing employed by his Department, beyond the extra cost of £400,000.

Dr. David Owen

Two destroyers or frigates and one Royal Fleet Auxiliary, with air reconnaissance, are normally employed on the Beira Patrol. They are found from the general purpose combat forces which are not individually "slice costed". Their running costs, which would be incurred wherever they were deployed, amount to about £2,750,000 a year.
