§ 69. Mr. Dudley Smithasked the Minister of Transport if he will take steps to encourage all local authorities to provide floodlighting on pedestrian crossings.
Mr. Bob BrownIt is not our policy to encourage complete floodlighting at all crossings because good street lighting gives the best visibility for drivers at most sites. But we do advise local authorities to floodlight crossings which require additional illumination and at all crossings local authorities are encouraged to install supplementary lamps to spotlight pedestrians as they step into the road.
