HC Deb 24 March 1970 vol 798 c398W
Mr. Ifor Davies

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what was the total cost to central Government of subsidies to local authority housing in Wales in the financial year 1963–64 and the comparable figure in the last financial year; and what this represented as an average subsidy for each council house in these years.

Mr. George Thomas

The total cost to central Government of subsidies to local authority permanent, new dwellings was £3.5 million in 1963–64 and £5.6 million in 1968–69. This represented an average subsidy of £18 and £24 in these respective years. For houses completed in 1963–64 the average subsidy was about £30 per house and for those completed in 1968–69 about £100 per house.
