HC Deb 24 March 1970 vol 798 c322W
41. Mr. Waddington

asked the Minister of Transport how many services provided by municipal and private bus operators under subvention from British Railways are to be transferred to the National Bus Company; when that transfer is to take place; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Mulley

There are about 50 such services being subsidised by the Railways Board. On the question of transfer, I cannot yet add to the Answer I gave to the hon. Member for Tavistock (Mr. Michael Heseltine) on 27th January.—[Vol. 794, c. 294.]

61. Mr. Speed

asked the Minister of Transport if he will give a general direction to the National Bus Company to improve the standard of service of its subsidiaries.

Mr. Mulley

A general direction would be inappropriate and also unnecessary since it is already the managerial responsibility of the National Bus Company to provide the highest standard of services they can subject to the financial duty laid on them by Parliament.
