HC Deb 23 March 1970 vol 798 cc272-3W
Mr. Brian Parkyn

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many special schools for mentally handicapped children exist in Bedfordshire; how many children go to these schools; and how these figures compare with the figures for 1964.

Dr. John Dunwoody

There are two training centres for mentally handicapped children in Bedfordshire, attended in 1964 by 45 children and now, with more space available, attended by 136: a centre now under construction will provide 45 further places, and there are plans to provide another.
