asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) whether he will now lay the Statutory Instrument necessary to apply the enlarged Admiralty jurisdiction contained in the Administration of Justice Act, 1956 to the courts of the Isle of Man; and if he will make a statement;

(2) whether he will now lay the Statutory Instrument necessary to apply the enlarged Admiralty jurisdiction contained in the Administration of Justice Act, 1956 to the courts in Jersey; and if he will make a statement.

My right hon. Friend considers, as his predecessors have done, that it is for the island authorities, if they so wish, to take the initiative in this matter. I am inquiring whether they wish to do so.
