asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity what has been the total increase in industrial productivity in Great Britain between October, 1964, and the most recent date for which figures are available; and what was the percentage increase in the comparable period before October, 1964.

Mr. Dell

Between the fourth quarter of 1964 and the third quarter of 1969 output per person employed in the United Kingdom increased by 16.9 per cent. in the industries covered by the index of industrial production. In the 4¾ years between the first quarter of 1960 and the fourth quarter of 1964 the corresponding increase was 14.3 per cent. Separate figures for Great Britain are not available.
