HC Deb 19 March 1970 vol 798 cc195-6W
Mr. William Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) what progress has been made on the provision of the 24 maternity beds at Forth Park, Kirkcaldy, Fife;

(2) whether, in view of the fact that the birth rate in Glenrothes, Fife, is much higher than the national average, he will take steps to expedite the provision of maternity hospital beds for the community.

Mr. Ross

Construction of the new 25-bed general practitioner maternity unit at Forth Park Hospital, Kirkcaldy, is expected to be completed by March of next year. When the additional beds are available it should no longer be necessary for Glenrothes mothers to travel to St. Andrews.
