asked the President of the Board of Trade when the second instrument landing system was installed at Turnhouse Airport; when it was intended to come into service; when it is now expected to be operational; and what is the reason for the continuing delays in this matter.

The equipment for the second instrument landing system at Turnhouse Airport was installed in September, 1969, with the object of bringing it into operation as soon thereafter as was safely practicable. It is now being adapted to the local terrain conditions in the light of flight test calibrations carried out so far, and some works services remain to be completed. The system is expected to be in operational use by the end of June.
