HC Deb 18 March 1970 vol 798 c146W
75. Miss Harvie Anderson

asked the Minister of Public Building and Works what estimate he has made of the oncost per man per week in the building industry in Scotland of agreed employers' payments.

Mr. John Silkin

I estimate the amount to be about £5 10s. 0d. About four fifths of this sum is accounted for by statutory payments such as the selective employment tax, national insurance contributions, the training levy and the graduated pension scheme. The remainder relates to non-statutory welfare schemes which guarantee sickness and injury benefits and provide holidays with pay.
