§ 51. Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why British subjects are allowed to deal in stocks and shares of public companies in the illegal Republic of Rhodesia and to profit from same; why stockbrokers are allowed to quote and deal in such stocks and shares; and whether he will take steps to prevent these and any other British citizen from benefiting from the illegal régime in Rhodesia.
Mr. TavernI would refer my hon. Friend to the answer I gave to a similar Question by him on 9th March, 1970. The question of British citizens benefiting in these circumstances from the illegal régime does not arise.—[Vol. 797, c. 247.]
