HC Deb 17 March 1970 vol 798 cc91-2W
60. Mr. Farr

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will take steps to exempt from rating assessment central heating apparatus when installed in houses in smokeless zones.

66. Sir B. Janner

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he will exempt central heating from rating when installed in houses in smokeless zones.

Mr. Denis Howell

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to the Question by my hon. Friend the Member for Bebington (Mr. Brooks) on 16th December. I see no reason for distinguishing between central heating installations for rating purposes according to where or why they have been installed. There are other ways of complying with the requirements of the Clean Air Act.—[Vol. 793, c. 268.]
