asked the Prime Minister if he will co-ordinate the policies of the Department of Employment and Productivity and the Department of Health and Social Security to ensure that night-shift workers receive a proper amount of unemployment benefit when placed on short-time working.

There is no lack of co-ordination. The rules governing all claimants to unemployment benefit are a matter for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Social Services, on whose behalf the benefit is administered by the Department of Employment and Productivity.
