§ 53. Dame Irene Wardasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will give an assurance that negotiations for entry into the Common Market will not be concluded without a plan for safeguarding pensions and social service benefits of those who are financially aided by the State against the foreshadowed rise in the cost of living, and without a scheme having been devised to protect those living on small fixed incomes and who are not in any way indebted for finance to the State.
§ Mr. TaverneWe shall ensure that social benefits are adjusted to protect pensioners and others from the adverse effects of food price increases.
