§ Mr. Kitsonasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if, in view of the lack of co-ordination between voluntary organisations and local authorities to ensure that old people living alone are contacted at regular intervals, he will introduce legislation to provide for it.
§ Mr. CrossmanWhile I would not accept the view that there is no co-ordination between local authorities and voluntary bodies for this purpose, I would expect it to be improved and better arrangements made under Section 45 of the Health Services and Public Health Act after it comes into force on 1st September this year.
