HC Deb 16 March 1970 vol 798 c1W
15. Mr. Eadie

asked the Minister of Technology if he is satisfied that future supplies of uranium will be available in this country, in view of the shortage of indigenous resources envisaged in European Economic Community countries; and what steps are being taken to find indigenous resources in this country.

Dr. Ernest A. Davies

The Atomic Energy Authority are confident that the intense exploration now being undertaken for uranium in many countries will result in sufficient uranium being available at reasonable prices for the United Kingdom programme.

The Authority have from time to time sponsored uranium reconnaissance in selected areas of the United Kingdom through the agency of the Institute of Geological Sciences. The latest of these programmes was commenced in March, 1968 and is still continuing.
