HC Deb 16 March 1970 vol 798 c6W
Sir G. Nabarro

asked the Minister of Technology what steps he is taking to prevent further increases in the price of British steel and mounting steel imports; and whether he will make a statement on his recent discussions on these matters with the British Steel Corporation.

Mr. Alan Williams

With the recent steel price increase and the B.S.C.'s programme of increased investment and cost reduction, I do not expect any further general price increases in the foreseeable future. Imports are not expected to rise further in 1970. B.S.C.'s home deliveries of finished products rose by nearly 15 per cent. in 1969 and should rise again this year.
