HC Deb 16 March 1970 vol 798 cc25-6W
Mr. Prior

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will now take steps to increase the rent allowances for old people wishing to take up local authority housing specifically built for them, but who find the present allowance inadequate.

Mr. Ennals

I would refer the hon. Member to my reply to my hon. Friend, the Member for Southampton, Test (Mr. R. C. Mitchell) on 9th February, 1970. Discussions with the Local Authority Associations about the levels of rent which can be met by the Supplementary Benefits Commission are still proceeding. —[Vol. 795, c.246.]
