HC Deb 16 March 1970 vol 798 cc8-9W
61. Sir G. Nabarro

asked the Attorney-General what steps he is taking to secure compliance with the Obscene Publications Act, 1959, having regard to the amount of erotic and pornographic leaflets and printed material circulating in provincial towns and elsewhere; and whether he will make a statement.

The Attorney-General

Proceedings under the Obscene Publications Act, 1959, are taken in all appropriate cases. My right hon. Friend the Home Secretary is considering the problem of unsolicited circulars which, whilst not contravening existing law, may, none the less, cause offence and distress to those who receive them.
