HC Deb 16 March 1970 vol 798 c24W
Mr. William Wells

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the average delay in admission of gynaecological cases, other than maternity and other urgent cases, to the General Hospital, Walsall, and the Manor Hospital, Walsall, respectively, in 1969; and how these figures compare with those for 1968 and 1967.

Dr. John Dunwoody

Gynaecological cases are not normally admitted to the General Hospital, Walsall. Information in the form requested in the Question is not available for Manor Hospital, Walsall, but the total numbers of patients on the waiting list for admission to gynaecological beds on the 31st December in each of the three years was as follows:

31st December, 1967 618
31st December, 1968 720
31st December, 1969 724

The average time waited by all patients admitted to the gynaecological department in 1968 was 25.7 weeks: the median waiting time was 12 weeks. Comparable figures for 1967 and 1969 are not available.
