HC Deb 16 March 1970 vol 798 c25W
Mr. Prentice

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the ratio of patients to doctors in general practice in the London Borough of Newham at the latest convenient date; and what are the comparable figures for Greater London and for the whole of England and Wales.

Dr. John Dunwoody

The following are the figures at 1st October, 1968, the latest date for which they are all available:

Area Average number of patients on lists of doctors providing full general medical services
London Borough of Newham 2,661
Greater London Council 2,433
England and Wales 2,477

The numbers are slightly inflated, since it is impossible to eliminate all duplicate entries from doctors' lists.
