§ Mr. Rhodesasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether Her Majesty's Government accepts Recommendation No. 590 on the production of a European film on the preservation and rehabilitation of the cultural heritage of monuments and sites which was adopted by the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe on 26th January, 1970; and what financial and technical support they intend to give to the making of the film planned by Europa Nostra to 68W which reference is made in paragraph 5 of the recommendation.
§ Mr. GreenwoodI view the idea of a European film on this subject with sympathy, and I am arranging for discussions about its objectives and costs, in order to determine what help might be appropriate.
§ Mr. Rhodesasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether Her Majesty's Government accepts Recommendation No. 589 on the European Conference of Ministers responsible for the preservation and rehabilitation of the cultural heritage of monuments and sites which was adopted by the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe on 26th January, 1970; and whether they will instruct their Permanent Representative in the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe to vote in favour of the proposals contained in paragraph 8 of the recommendation.
§ Mr. GreenwoodAs my hon. Friend knows the Government support the resolutions adopted by the European Conference of Ministers in Brussels. We shall endeavour to secure implementation of the resolutions in the ways best calculated to assist the preservation and rehabilitation of the cultural heritage of monuments and sites in this country, and to promote collaboration with the other countries concerned.
