§ Mr. Wrightasked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many children are currently on waiting lists in Scotland 383W for places at schools for the mentally handicapped; and how these figures compare with each of the last five years.
§ Mr. RossThe information is not collected centrally. Only three education authorities are known to have waiting lists of any size: in two cases these should be eliminated this year when additional places become available: in the third area the main difficult is staffing rather than places. Children awaiting admission to special schools normally remain at their primary schools until places become available.
