HC Deb 12 March 1970 vol 797 cc382-3W
Mr. Wright

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many children are currently on waiting lists in Scotland for places at schools for the mentally handicapped; and how these figures compare with each of the last five years.

Mr. Ross

The information is not collected centrally. Only three education authorities are known to have waiting lists of any size: in two cases these should be eliminated this year when additional places become available: in the third area the main difficult is staffing rather than places. Children awaiting admission to special schools normally remain at their primary schools until places become available.
