asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what liaison his Department continues to maintain with Leicester University in respect of research into the social effects of violence on television; and if he will make a statement.

The Home Office maintains contact at intervals with the Director of the Centre for Mass Communication Research at Leister University about the research being undertaking by the centre, in particular that which is directed to the relationship between mass media and violence.
