HC Deb 12 March 1970 vol 797 cc367-8W
67. Mr. Chichester-Clark

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity how many construction workers were unemployed in the Merseyside development area to the latest convenient date; and what was the equivalent figure in every year since 1964.

Mr. Dell

Industrial analyses of the registered unemployed in the present development areas are available from August, 1966, but not for earlier dates. The numbers registered as unemployed at February, 1967, February, 1968, February, 1969, and February, 1970, in the Merseyside Development Area who last worked in Construction (Minimum List Heading 500 of the Standard Industrial Classification) were 4,406, 5,004, 5,887 and 7,167, respectively.
