§ 49. Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether his attention has been drawn to the fact that the London Borough of Newham has decided on an increase in general rate of 1s. 5d. in the £ and in the domestic rate by 1s. to 15s. 1d., in part due to the financial effects of the Ronan Point disaster; and whether, in the light of this new information, he will now revise the 50 per cent. grant to Newham for strengthening tower blocks.
§ Mr. FreesonI understand the proposed increases are attributable to a variety of reasons. As regards the second part of the Question, I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given to his Question on 20th February.—[Vol. 796, c.259.]
