HC Deb 10 March 1970 vol 797 cc269-70W
42. Mr. Bruce-Gardyne

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his estimate of the cost to public funds of adjusting the proportion of gross personal incomes per head of population taken by all taxes on incomes to align them with the proportion of gross personal incomes per head taken by taxes on income within the European Economic Community; and what is the estimated change in net personal disposable income per head resulting.

Mr. William Rodgers

On the basis of figures for 1967, the latest available, our estimates are respectively £1,600 million and £29, but taxes on income cannot be considered in isolation from other taxes.
