asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what representations he has received from the county borough of Gateshead concerning the vehicles used by handicapped persons, and the inadequate servicing facilities available.

No such representations have been received.

Mr. Randall

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what progress is being made for a replacement centre for physically handicapped persons in Government action in order to deal with the social consequences of child poverty.

Mr. Crossman

I regard this as one of the most important aspects of my responsibility for co-ordinating the social services.
