HC Deb 10 March 1970 vol 797 c278W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that some exporters are being hampered from obtaining orders due to having to pay import duty on parts imported from the United States of America used in constructing machinery for export, whereas Canadian exporters can import free of duty and have an unfair advantage over British manufacturers; and whether he will in his forthcoming Budget take action to change this situation.

Mrs. Gwyneth Dunwoody

There are already adequate powers under existing legislation to relieve British exporters from import duty on imported parts where these are incorporated in exports.
