§ Mr. William RodgersBetween January, 1969, and January, 1970, the 247W cost of living, as measured by the index of retail prices, rose by 5 per cent. This is equivalent to a decline in the internal purchasing power of the £ sterling from 20s. 0d. in January, 1969, to 19s. 1d. in January, 1970.
