HC Deb 09 March 1970 vol 797 c221W
Mr. Dean

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what estimate he has made of the cost of providing benefit for all disabled people who are not covered by the Industrial Injuries Scheme at the same rate as that provided under the Industrial Injuries Scheme.

Mr. Ennals

The Industrial Injuries Scheme provides benefits only for employed people suffering from the effects of an accident at work or a prescribed occupational disease. The cost of providing for all adults irrespective of the cause of their disablement the full range of disablement benefits under the Industrial Injuries Scheme can he estimated only in very broad terms, but it would obviously add some hundreds of millions a year to current expenditure.
