HC Deb 05 March 1970 vol 797 cc162-3W
Mr. Sharples

asked the Secretary of State for Local Government and Regional Planning if he will give a list of the boards and committees to which he appoints members other than civil servants; and if he will state the number of members on each such board or committee.

Mr. Crosland

I appoint the Chairmen and members of the eight Regional Economic Planning Councils in England dealing with the Northern, North West, Yorkshire and Humberside, West Midlands, East Midlands, East Anglia, South West and South East planning regions. The average number of members on each Council is 30.

I also appoint the members of the recently established Advisory Council on Noise of which I am myself the Chairman. 20 members have so far accepted invitations to serve on the Council.
