Mr. Wylie

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many life prisoners have been released under Section 21 of the Prisons (Scotland) Act, 1952; how many had been detained for more than 10 years prior to release; and what was the mathematical average of the period of imprisonment served in the other cases.

Twenty-five life prisoners have been released under Section 21 of the Prisons (Scotland) Act, 1952, or Section 61 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1967, which superseded it. Of these three
