HC Deb 04 March 1970 vol 797 cc125-6W
Mr. Wolrige-Gordon

asked the Secretary of State for Employment and Productivity what is the number of people in need of industrial rehabilitation which is used as a criterion for the setting up of an industrial rehabilitation unit; and how many such people are in the north-east of Scotland.

Mr. Dell

About 500 entrants per annum are needed to support a minimum-size unit of 60 places. The second part of the Question could not be answered without a detailed survey of individual cases. In 1969 about 70 persons from north-east Scotland started courses at the Edinburgh Industrial Rehabilitation Unit.
