HC Deb 04 March 1970 vol 797 cc126-7W
Mr. Marten

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will identify by reference to paragraph numbers in Command Paper No. 3345 the few important questions which now have to be resolved before a decision can be taken to join the European Economic Community and the other minor questions which the Government is prepared to leave for settlement until after Great Britain has joined the European Economic Community.

Mr. Luard

Paragraphs 21–42 of the statement made on behalf of Her Majesty's Government by the then Foreign Secretary at the Council of Western European Union on 4th July, 1967, cover the few important questions which we wish to see resolved before we join the Communities. Other questions most of which we believe might be left till after we have joined are referred to in paragraph 43.
