HC Deb 04 March 1970 vol 797 cc118-9W
59. Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the President of the Board of Trade on what date he wrote to the hon. Member for West Ham, North concerning investigations into the Dollar Land Holdings Limited; on what date his Parliamentary Secretary sent a communication; and what was the nature of each of these communications.

Mr. Mason

I wrote to the hon. Member informing him of the decision not to appoint Inspectors to investigate the affairs of Dollar Land Holdings Limited on 25th February. My Parliamentary Secretary wrote to the hon. Member on 23rd February informing him that the matter was still under consideration. I regret that when my Parliamentary Secretary wrote, she was unaware of my decision not to appoint Inspectors which was taken on 20th February and communicated to the Solicitors of the complainant shareholders of the company that day. I apologise to the hon. Member if he was misled by my Parliamentary Secretary's letter—but no doubt he will have noticed that the Board of Trade is considering what action can or should be taken with regard to the non-production of the company accounts to 31st December, 1968, and the failure of directors to obtain their share qualifications.
