§ Mr. Eadieasked the Minister of Transport what was the total labour force of British Railways, male and female, in 1969 in Scotland; and how this compares with the preceding five years.
§ Mr. MurrayBritish Railways have provided the following information about their total labour force in Scotland at the end of the years stated:
1969 1968 1967 26,302 29,253 34,111 1966 1965 1964 36,661 39,540 43,848 The figure for 1968 takes into account the transfer of 1,967 staff to National 49W Carriers Ltd., now a subsidiary of the National Freight Corporation. The figure for 1969 takes account of the transfer of 765 staff to N.F.C. subsidiaries and the Scottish Transport Group.
British Railways do not record separate figures for male and female staff.
