HC Deb 02 March 1970 vol 797 c18W
73. Mr. Eadie

asked the Minister of Technology how many miners he estimates will be displaced as a result of his decision to allow oil fuel to displace coal in power stations.

Mr. Harold Lever

None. Already the N.C.B. is drawing on stocks as the market demand is in excess of production.

Apart from three small stations for which the C.E.G.B. had consent many years ago, the only conversion I have authorised is for Fulham to change to oil on clean air grounds.

Fulham is a small station equipped to use only a quantity of coal for which there will be other markets for as far ahead as can be foreseen.
