Mr. MacArthur

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he is satisfied that the number of secondary school places approved for completion by 1972–73 is adequate to meet the local authorities' assessments of their needs for the raising of the school leaving age; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Gordon Campbell

Education authorities' remaining needs for the raising of the school leaving age have been taken into account in determining the allocations of capital investment for school building. I shall keep the situation under review.
